Alice Carpenter Bentley, MA, LPC, NCC
I have a primarily psychoanalytic orientation, although I use other methods and techniques as appropriate. I work with family of origin issues, trauma issues including sexual, emotional and/or physical abuse, depression and anxiety, Bipolar, adjustment issues, PTSD, addiction and relapse issues, and other personality disorders. I treat most demographics, except for very young children and geriatric (over 65), which I am glad to refer to one of the specialists I work with. I feel it is an honor to assist you in becoming the best YOU that you can be. I welcome the chance to talk to you about your goals.
I received my Master's Degree in 2001 from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology (now Argosy). I got my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Management from Georgia State University, graduating Cum Laude. I also studied psychology at the University of Tennessee where I was on the Dean's List.
I am a Trauma Certified Specialist (TREM), Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy certified, a STAR Behavioral Health provider (civilian provider for military mental health services), an Assessment Specialist, an Addiction Specialist and a Certified HIV-EIS counseling provider in addition to hundreds of hours of post-graduate education in counseling areas. I have worked with patients in prisons, rehabs, ERs, doctor's offices and their homes. I was most recently on staff at Emory Healthcare.
I offer in-office appointments or On-Site Concierge Services in addition to on-line video therapy for those who either need a greater level of privacy or cannot get to the office (traveling, etc.).
LPCs cannot prescribe medications, however I am en suite with two psychiatrists so we can collaborate and combine your possible medication needs with therapy. I can also work with your existing prescribing doctor.
